Location and contact are not the same
An AirTag on a keyring reports through nearby iPhones. You see an area. You do not see the person who picks up the keys and wants to return them. They still have to reach you. If no number is printed on the tag, they may not know how.
The QRfound sticker next to it is that number, without writing it in the open. Scan, form, email to you. The finder needs neither an iPhone nor an Apple account.
Already using an AirTag?
A QRfound sticker helps when the finder has an Android phone or the tracker battery is flat. Android users do not reliably see an AirTag as “please return this”. They can read the QR code with the same camera they use for any other code.
When the AirTag battery dies, tracking stops. The sticker remains. It does not show a dot on a map, but it can still be scanned.
How to put both on the same item
Tracker in the case or on the loop, QR code visible on a tag or on a side that is not rubbed off at once. Create a QRfound item that matches: keys, bag, suitcase, bike. You print the code yourself.
